Avis Rebecca Usborne                      Born 17th August 1843 in Marden, Kent. Baptised 8th October 1843 in Shipbourne, Kent. Died July/ September 1902 in the Maidstone district of Kent.

It is likely that Avis had an illegitimate child, William, born at the Coxheath Workhouse in 1869. In 1871 she was living with William at Linton in the Workhouse and described as a pauper servant. William died in 1877. In 1881 she was a lodger at 99-101, High St. Milton with Henry Caulfield and his four children aged 2 to 9. In the 1881 census she was listed as Avis Caulfield though there is no evidence that they ever married. In 1891 Avis was back at the Workhouse in Linton working as a washer-woman, unmarried. In 1901 she was described as an unmarried house-keeper, living once more with Henry Caulfield at Fox Pitts.                                   Research Craig Brown.
